Open AI’s ChatGPT has recently taken the tech world by storm. It is an open-source natural language processing system that has the potential to revolutionize the way we use search engines. With its unique ability to understand natural language and generate relevant responses, ChatGPT could potentially replace Google Search as the go-to search engine.
In this blog post, we will explore the possibilities and implications of this modern technology and examine whether it really is the next big thing in search.
OpenAI ChatGPT is an artificial intelligence chatbot platform that is designed to assist with conversational search. It uses natural language processing (NLP) to understand a query and provide relevant results. The technology behind ChatGPT was developed by OpenAI, a nonprofit research laboratory founded by tech billionaires Elon Musk and Sam Altman.
ChatGPT is an advanced chatbot platform that can provide answers to questions. It does this by understanding the context and meaning behind the query, rather than simply providing a list of links as most search engines do.
This allows it to provide answers in a much more natural way than other search engines can. The technology behind ChatGPT is based on natural language processing algorithms which are trained on a large corpus of text data. This allows the system to learn how to respond to different queries, which gives it the ability to provide more accurate and relevant results.
As it’s an AI chatbot that answers the queries of humans, it remembers the previous conversations of users as well so it can further optimize and improve future conversations.
Secondly, ChatGPT allows users to provide follow up corrections if the initial response is incorrect or incomplete. It also provides a more natural conversational flow than traditional search engines and enables users to ask complex queries without having to type out an entire sentence. In this way, it can act as a complement to existing search engine technologies, rather than a complete replacement.
Lastly, ChatGPTcan decline inappropriate requests. This means if a person asks for something that is outside of the scope of the system, it will be able to detect and respond accordingly.
As per the official website of OpenAI, ChatGPT may occasionally generate incorrect information. So, when using this tool to gather information, you need to verify whether this information is correct or not. Due to ChatGPT’s inconsistent accuracy, stack overflow even banned it three days ago, stating that “In general, posting answers generated by ChatGPT is significantly harmful to the site and to users who are asking or looking for correct answers because the average rate of receiving correct answers from ChatGPT is too low.”
Then, ChatGPT may occasionally produce harmful instructions or biased content.
And finally, ChatGPT has limited knowledge of events after 2021 and the world. It fails when asking for information related to current trends or future predictions. For example, I asked ChatGPT to give me the HBAR Price Prediction and it responded with the following.
Let us ask this question to ChatGPT itself and see what it says.
ChatGPT itself has answered that it is not built to replace any search engine like Google. The main objective of this AI chatbot is to help people by generating content based on the provided inputs.
Besides, it does not have access to browse the internet to get better results in real-time which search engines usually do.
When we search on Google, it crawls the web and bring the relevant results in front of us which ChatGPT is not doing at least as of now. So, this is not the right time to say that it’s going to replace Google Search in future.
Google is continuously improving its system to bring the best results to the users searching. So, that efforts cannot be replaced by one AI tool which has not even access to browse the internet to generate results.
In its current state, OpenAI ChatGPT is still extremely limited in its capabilities. It is unable to understand complex queries, has difficulty understanding context, and cannot handle more than one topic at once.
For now, though, it looks like OpenAI ChatGPT will not be taking over from Google Search anytime soon. That said, it is certainly worth keeping an eye on as its technology continues to develop.
